    This record contains data collected from the near-water surface sampling site off the Lucinda Jetty, as part of the Lucinda Jetty Coastal Observatory. Sample collection began the 9th of January, 2014. The data can be used for Ocean Colour sensor validation. Parameters measured include the absorption coefficients of the particulate and dissolved components of the water column and the phytoplankton pigment concentration and composition.

  • This record describes multibeam echosounder data collected on RV Investigator voyage IN2017_E03, Equipment Commissioning Sea Trials, which departed Brisbane on the 20th August 2017 and returned to Brisbane on the 24th of August 2017. The Kongsberg EM710 MKII multibeam echosounder was used to acquire seafloor bathymetry and backscatter information off the coast of Brisbane. The EM710 MKII provides a 0.5° by 1° transmit and receive angular resolution respectively. The echosounder's nominal frequency range is from 40 to 100 kHz. Data are stored in *.all raw format for bathymetry and backscatter at CSIRO. There are 17 files totalling 1.73 GB of raw data in this dataset. A patch test calibration was performed for the EM710 during this voyage to obtain pitch, roll and yaw calibration values. Sound velocity profiles were applied to this data during data acquisition. Bathymetry data contained in *.all format are corrected for motion and position. Tide corrections were not applied to the processed data. Processed data has had outliers removed. Processed line data are available in *.gsf and ascii format, and processed bathymetry in geotiff format.   • This record describes multibeam echosounder data collected on RV Investigator voyage IN2022_V07, HALO - Halimeda bioherm Origins, function and fate in the northern Great Barrier Reef." The voyage took place between August 15, 2022 and September 7, 2022 (AEST), departing from Brisbane and returning to Cairns. Piggyback project: Dinoflagellates & broader planktonic assemblage observation. The Kongsberg EM710 MKII multibeam echosounder was used to acquire seafloor bathymetry and backscatter information and watercolumn backscatter throughout the voyage. The system aquired data throughout transits within the Great Barrier Reef and was also run concurrently with the Kongsberg EM2040C system during site surveys. The EM710 MKII provides a 0.5° by 1° transmit and receive angular resolution respectively. The echosounder's nominal frequency range is from 40 to 100 kHz. Data are stored in *.all raw format for bathymetry and backscatter and *.wcd format for watercolumn backscatter at CSIRO. There are 694 files totalling 274 GB of raw data in this dataset. Sound velocity profiles were applied to this data during data acquisition. Bathymetry data contained in *.all format are corrected for motion and position. Predicted tides were calculated using AusTides 2022 and applied relative to MSL. Processed data has had outliers removed. Processed line data are available in *.gsf and ascii format, and processed bathymetry and backscatter grids in geotiff format.   • This record describes multibeam echosounder data collected on RV Investigator voyage IN2022_V07, HALO - Halimeda bioherm Origins, function and fate in the northern Great Barrier Reef." The voyage took place between August 15, 2022 and September 7, 2022 (AEST), departing from Brisbane and returning to Cairns. Piggyback project: Dinoflagellates & broader planktonic assemblage observation. The Dual-Head Kongsberg EM2040c multibeam echosounder was used to acquire seafloor bathymetry, backscatter information and watercolumn backscatter at 3 focused site north of Cairns. An additional site, Lowry passage, was also systematically surveyed with the system. The EM2040c provides a 1.3 degree by 1.3 degree angular resolution. The echosounder's nominal frequency is 300 kHz and it operated in dual-head single swath mode. Data are stored in *.all raw format for bathymetry and backscatter and *.wcd format for watercolumn backscatter at CSIRO. There are 701 files totalling 174 GB of raw data in this dataset. Sound velocity profiles were applied to this data during data acquisition. Bathymetry data contained in *.all format are corrected for motion and position. Predicted tides calculated in AusTides 2022 were applied to the processed data relative to MSL. Processed data had outliers removed. Processed line data are available in *.gsf and ascii format, and processed bathymetry and backscatter grids in geotiff format.     The BSI radiometer was deployed on 12 occasions on the Franklin 7/97 cruise in the area off the mouth of the Sepik River, Papua New Guinea. Deployments took place between 10:30 am and 3:00 pm, usually only once daily. Casts were taken near CTD stations.

The voyage took place between September 9 and September 29, 2019 departing from Brisbane (QLD) and arriving in Brisbane. The Kongsberg SBP120 (sub bottom profiler) was used to acquire data containing the specular reflections at different sediment interfaces below the seafloor. The SBP120 provides a 3° by 3° angular resolution. The echosounder's frequency sweep range is from 2.5 to 7 kHz. The SBP120 was logged sporadically for the extent of the voyage. Data are stored in *.raw (598 files 5.6 GB) raw and *.seg (1,210 files 11.1 GB) segy formats at CSIRO. The segy format data had a real time processing stream applied, which applies gain, a gain correction, matched filter with replica shaping, an attribute calculation for instantaneous amplitude and time variable gain. The voyage took place between October 4 and October 14, 2019 departing from Brisbane (QLD) and arriving in Darwin (NT). The gravity meter instrument is a MicroG Lacoste Air-Sea II. Data are stored in .ENV and .DAT data files at CSIRO. There are 26 files totalling 199 MB of raw data in this dataset. No processing has been conducted on this data.   • This record describes SVP Drifter deployments from the Marine National Facility RV Investigator Voyage IN2015_V03 and data access. This is the third research voyage for the RV Investigator departing Brisbane on the 3rd June and arriving in Sydney on the 18th June, 2015. The GDP (Global Drifter Program) SVP Drifters are Argos tracked Lagrangian Drifters designed to meet the need for accurate and global in-situ observation of Sea Surface Temperature (SST) and surface circulation. Each unit consists of a surface buoy and a subsurface drogue (sea anchor), attached by a long, thin tether. The buoy measures temperature and other properties, and has a transmitter to send the data to passing satellites. The drogue dominates the total area of the instrument and is centred at a depth of 15 meters beneath the sea surface. Manufacturer: Pacific Gyre Inc. A total of 10 drifters were deployed on this cruise, deployment information is provided in the documentation links below. Access to the data is via NOAA or system ARGOS.
